Kaitlyn and Bastien officially met In person May 2021, but their story starts in the summer of 2019.

During summer 2019 before Covid, Kaitlyn was visiting Traverse City for the summer and visited some friends that she used to live with, which ironically was where Bastien was now living just after moving into town from Austin, Texas.
He was out for the evening, so they didn’t have the chance to meet.
Kaitlyn however decided to snoop around the bedroom Bastien lived in, which used to be hers years before.
She felt a weird strong connection to him, though she had never met him.

A year later, Bastien moved into his own apartment and Kaitlyn was considering coming back to live in Traverse City.
The friends that both Kaitlyn and Bastien had lived with told Kaitlyn that Bastien might have an open room to rent.
She called him, and tried to negotiate the price of rent down….. which Bastien refused.
Kaitlyn had quite some thoughts about this French guy after this phone call…

A year went by and Kaitlyn moved back to TC during the summer after graduating from College.
She took a summer position back at an old place she used to work to help out for the season, where Bastien now worked.
They officially met on May 6th, 2021.
They saw one another, both wearing masks, and were both struck with a discomfort and a knowing that something was about to ignite between them.
Bastien was completely disoriented by the beauty of Kaitlyn’s eyes and could not stop talking about it to his surroundings.

A few weeks later, Bastien invited Kaitlyn to his birthday celebration.
At the end of the evening, as everyone went home, Bastien and Kaitlyn stayed back and began to talk.
They ended up talking under pouring rain that evening for 4hrs…
completely soaking wet and cold, they decided to go on an official date a few days later.
They figured they had enough to talk about.

Things moved fast, faster than they could have ever imagined or intended.

A beautiful light blasted into their lives, 2 months into dating, Kaitlyn got pregnant. Terrified, excited and uncertain…they took the leap.
March 2022, our sweet Mira arrived.


Three years ago, on July 27th, a huge decision had to be made.
A decision that would either let Bastien stay in the states, or have him return back to France…without Mira or Kaitlyn.

This day was and will always remain sacred for us.
